ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Who Is Pam Stevens?

I grew up on a small farm/ranch in Southern California. We never had a lot of money, but my parents had a strong work ethic, and they passed that down to me. I think I have been trying to do it all ever since!

I was given my first horse for my 10th birthday. I have always suspected it may have had something to do with my brother getting tired of me riding his horse. From there, I never looked back. I began

riding and training not only my own horses, but also horses for anyone who wanted me

to work with theirs.

I began writing for a horse magazine in my late twenties, where I wrote articles and did

photography work. I have always been an avid reader, and one day I finally thought,

“I can do this!” That is when I began writing The Reluctant Courier.

Drawing on my own experiences with horses, animals, and people in general, I created

Sandi, a young, independent rodeo contestant. Even though the people who read The

Reluctant Courier told me it was “great” and “better than many published books,” my

writing was eventually sidelined by life and my own lack of self-confidence.

At 70 years old, after four children, seven grandchildren, running a couple of businesses,

a divorce, a successful remarriage, the death of my father, and eventually my mother,

I decided it was time. With the absolute support of my husband and my entire family,

I self-published The Reluctant Courier.

In December 2024, I released the next book in the series, Sara Hoyt, Her Mother’s Daughter. In November 2025, the third book, For No Apparent Reason, was released. I am now working on the fourth book in the series, Choices.

My books are written by me, in my own voice, from my own imagination and life experience. I am proud that they are certified as human-authored, and my hope is that whoever reads them enjoys the stories as much as I enjoy writing them.

ABOUT BOOK ONE

The Reluctant Courier

With the mystery of a mysterious envelope begins the story of Sandra Stanford, a petite girl with a hint of sadness in her Irish green eyes. In the early hours of one morning, as she sits sipping her coffee, she witnesses a hit-and-run, which she later learns was attempted murder.

The victim hands her the envelope with a dying wish: get it to Congressman Steven Hoyt. With the envelope now in her possession, Sandra must race against time to find Congressman Hoyt before those who want to keep the envelope’s contents hidden find her.

Will she be able to find the Congressman before it’s too late? Or will the envelope and whatever dark secret it holds plunge the country into war?

ABOUT BOOK TWO

Sara Hoyt, Her Mother's Daughter

Sara Hoyt: Her Mother’s Daughter is a story of courage, loyalty, and survival. This isn’t just a story of danger and intrigue, it’s a fierce introspection on what we owe to those we love, and how far we’ll go when everything we hold dear is threatened.

Sara Hoyt is the embodiment of grit, resourcefulness, and fierce devotion. Trained by her father to be a survivor, not a victim, every step of her journey feels urgent, raw, and heart breakingly human.

Kurt Rutledge’s presence adds depth and tension, not just as a partner in the search, but as a reminder of trust, resilience, and the fragility of safety in a world where enemies lurk in every shadow.

At the core of the story is family, the bond between father and daughter that propels the narrative forward and keeps readers invested through every near-death encounter. It’s not just about finding a missing parent; it’s about confronting danger, reclaiming agency, and refusing to be broken by circumstance.

ABOUT BOOK THREE

For No Apparent Reason

After a deadly cartel operative slips into and out  a police facility, small-town deputy Sara Rutledge becomes the key to unlocking a national manhunt.

With her father’s past resurfacing, her family is under fire, and her own life is on the line, Sara must face an invisible enemy who turns ordinary actions into perfect crimes.

When her K9 partner, Zeus, refuses to let her near her own car, she knows something is wrong. Moments later, a deadly trap is exposed — and a conspiracy begins to unravel.

What starts as a routine investigation quickly pulls Sara into a web of cartel violence, corruption, and a shadow assassin known only as the Ghost. Sara discovers that the deadliest enemy may not be a stranger that just kills, he studies, he waits, and he strikes where you least expect him, in the least expected way.

It may be all  about the choices she’s already made—for no apparent reason.

TESTIMONIALS

PRAISE FOR THE RELUCTANT COURIER

"I couldn’t put this book down! From the moment the mysterious envelope became Sandra’s to deliver, I was hooked. The author’s vivid descriptions throughout the book made me feel like I was right there with Sandra, on the run against all odds. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end, eagerly turning page after page to see if Sandra would live up to her potential of badass female protagonist. She did not disappoint! A thrilling ride from start to finish!"
